3

Pay and file

Review your application summary, pay securely via Stripe, and your application is filed with IP Australia immediately.

Before you start

What you'll need

Have these four things ready and you can complete your application in minutes.

Your trade mark

The word, phrase, or logo you want to register. If filing a logo, have the image file ready.

Owner details

The legal entity that will own the trade mark. This can be a company (with ABN), individual, or trust. A business name cannot own a trade mark.

Your goods and services

A general idea of what you sell or do under the mark. You don't need a formal description. The AI will help you draft one.

Payment method

A credit or debit card. Payment is processed securely via Stripe.

Markster successfully registered Subsea's trade marks after we'd been unsuccessful doing it ourselves. Working with Kate and the team was very easy and straightforward. We'd recommend Markster. I couldn't be happier with the outcome and the process.

FAQ

Common questions

How long does the online filing process take?
The application itself takes a few minutes. After filing, IP Australia typically examines your application within 3 weeks to 3 months. Total time to registration is usually 7 to 8 months if no issues arise.
What happens after I file?
We file your application with IP Australia and manage routine examination correspondence on your behalf. You'll receive confirmation once lodged, and we'll notify you of any developments.
What if IP Australia raises an objection?
Routine examination issues are covered by the filing fee. If a substantive objection arises, we’ll review the examination report, explain your options, and provide a fixed-fee quote for any work required. Learn more about examination report reviews.
Can I file a logo trade mark online?
Yes. You can file word marks, logo marks, or both through our online tool. If filing a logo, you'll upload the image during the process.
Is the online service right for me?
The online tool is designed for straightforward trade marks. If you’re aware of potential complications such as similar existing marks, descriptiveness concerns, or complex ownership structures, working with a lawyer may be more appropriate.
How is this different from filing directly with IP Australia?
When you file through Markster, you get AI-assisted classification, examination management, and we act as your registered address for service. Filing directly with IP Australia means you handle classification, correspondence, and deadlines yourself.
